Crina, I adore these photos and the conceptual nature of them. The translation gave me my favorite line, "It is the exploration of the inner territories we carry with us, where water is the vehicle of this search. The interaction with the self becomes a dynamic transformation between abandonment and resistance, between accepting fluidity and preserving the physical landmarks of the body." Fantastic work here! Would love to see these live on a wall in a gallery!

Good morning, Juliette! I feel quite embarrassed every time when my dear non-Romanian speaking friends have to use a translating app to read my posts. It would be way more difficult to write in English, because what with my OCD, I would never stop proofreading and changing, so I would probably never post anything. Thank you so much for making this effort. And yes, these photos are pretty impactful to the eye, I might consider making a few prints and see where they could find a friendly wall. Have a great Sunday!

It is no problem at all! And I’m quite embarrassed that somehow I learned all the Romance Languages except for Romanian! Tsk, tsk! ;-). Yes, you should print at least 1-3 of those. Gorgeous!!!

Hochinteressant

Noch ein Wasser so schwarz gesehen, noch nie Wasser so „mineralisch“ gesehen

Mulțumesc - apa ca personaj, când familiar, când misterios și pe alocuri chiar vrăjmaș.

Thanks for this latest letter. You're right about the slowly emerging themes, like prints in the developing tray. "Archiving states rather than places" is another great phrase. I really like the way you write and these images are beautiful. The water looks like outer space! I'm intrigued to know more about your collaborations with actors and musicians. I imagine they make for fantastic models, used to performing and being looked at. They all look so comfortable in front of your lens but I'm certain that's also to do with the way you interact with them and their faith in your abilities. I have a signed copy of 'Fernweh'. It's one of my favourites.

That's another blissful coincidence - the book by Teju Cole; I'll try to put together a post about my working with artists (there are so many of them). I've learned to photograph WITH them, and I'm grateful for that. Thank you for being my partner in this visual and written exchange. It's very rewarding.

Hoping to go to the seaside tomorrow. Your water-themed post was perfectly timed.

It sounds like you had enough trouble keeping a clear lens! You can grow into underwater photography!

I'm happy I didn't fall in the pool!

Really interesting. Might not be Switzerland, but these are very cool. The one from above with the hair - third from below - is my favourite!!

Hello, Søren, thanks. It was a strange experience, which I'm sure wouldn't have been as rewarding if I had worked with a different model. I'm sorry I couldn't shoot underwater, maybe some other time.
